'Roughing-It' includes four days of hiking (expert or intermediary depending on guests capability) and three days of local visits. The Romanian carpathian Mountains separate into several ranges of which the most peaked and teton-like is the Fagaras Range for expert hiking.

East of it are the Piatra Craiului and Bucegi ranges for either expert of intermediagte hiking. West are the Retezat and Apuseni ranges.

Romania is also a country of caves, counting almost 12,000, many of which contain ancient human (oldest: 30-40,000 yrs old) and ice-age great bear (oldest: 75,000 yrs old) fossils.

Highly competent volunteer mountain rescue services, the Salvamont, are on 24 hr call year-round.
